Next my parents 4 o'clock, selloum philodendron, and crape myrtle bed. I love the way the crape myrtles (Muskogee and Natchez) are currently shedding their bark.

Really beautiful pictures! How do you manage the Ginger? I tried twice to grow them, but they died on me. What's your tips on that?

Which gingers have you tried? Some types of gingers are much harder to grow then others depending on you zone and soil type.

Both the varieties in my pictures are pretty easy to maintain as long as they get enough water. The white butterfly gingers are planted between my pond and the front of the house with an irrigation head behind them that is set to go off twice a week. Growing next to the pond also helps to keep the soil moist and the temperature more even. My piggest problem with the ginger there is that every spring I have to remove rhyzomes from under the rocks ringing the ponds where the gingers are trying to move into the pond.

The orange butterfly gingers are growing in the shade of a grouping of live oaks and have a sprinkler head in the middle of the clump.
