Very cool bloom!

I love that bloom. How long have you had the plant before it bloomed?

Grown from seed planted in 01. Don't know if they're normally that slow but had a tough life . Torn down 3 times by storms went underwater twice and was weed whacked once by lawn people lol Only other one i've ever seen was at Fairchild and it was brilliant red. May not really be roxburghii ?? fairly sure it is a Cassia though

It is very pretty. I hope it doesn't seed too much for you. I bet the red one is beautiful.
I am having that problem with princess earing tree now. Too many seedlings showing up, so I guess I'll have to take it out. :o(

On doing a search on the tree, some pictures show it to be very red and others show it pink. Maybe it depends on the seed coming from a very red one. And some plants don't grow true to color from seed. You might need a cutting from a red one.

My royal poincianna is seed grown and very red like the mama, but I see many that are more orange in color.

interestingly the flowers have turned a medium burnt orange . Some are pink and some are yellow when first opened . The tree is pushing 25 feet and produces a very lacy shade . It is semi deciduous and HATES cold lol. Have never seen another except fairchild have planted some phal ,maxilaria and brassidium orchids on the lower trunks light seems almost ideal and they rooted immediately to the bark. Have my eye on a cochliostemma

It is going out of flower and so far not a single seed!! Rather disappointed with the flower show but it has formed a wonderful canopy for other plants . think i finally made a correct choice lol very lacy shaded effect . Certainly isn't acting like its relatives lol gary

Gary, if you find some seed please let me know, I want a nice shade tree like that!

Have been very surprised by the lack of seeds having had past experience with other cassias.lol don't think I'd recommend it as a "shade "tree as it took 12 years to mature ,tends to grow out rather than up,hates cold and flowers are disappointing . Does seem to make a good canopy for epiphytes except it goes diciduous during cold spells when you need the cover the most lol. Now if you could locate one like the glorious specimen at Fairchild?? Watching like a hawk for seeds though lol gary
