Congratulations ! I planted one on my 75' x 100 ' waterfront lot in the Upper Keys ( Islamorada - zone 11 ), in early 2000. Every thing grows like crazy in the Florida Keys, but these guys really went berserk. Wound up in mid 2004 when I sold the home, with about fifteen 20 ft + tall plants, each brimming with a large green bunch of the best plaintains I've ever tasted.
The new owner however, felt a bit overwhelmed, - the first thing he did was have them all chopped down. His loss. Your's may not grow as fast or tall, but they will try,..am sure you are aware. Good luck !

Thanks Jofus...I'm hoping they do well. It was cut from a mat a few miles south of here (Hollywood); the mother plant was over twenty feet (and partly shaded). I'm mostly excited, though, that I'm no longer in zone 7 and I don't have to start from scratch again every spring.
