half shade help

Hi all,
first post.
I live in a mobile home in margate florida.
I planned on putting garden beds in front yard (as I have no other place to put them).
Property manager said no way, but I can put them on sides of home, I have 5 feet of space all around.

This leaves me with two sides facing east or west and a small 15 feet of back yard that gets sun most of the day.

If I put the beds on the sides, will there be enough sun to grow greens and fruits, watermelons, etc? Or should I just give up?

I figure 4 to 6 hours of good sun before it becomes a very stark shade area...although still bright, no direct sunlight.

I have purchased, just to see what would work, well over 70 heirloom variety seeds, mostly greens, edible flowers, herbs, and group of fruit (strawberry, tomatoes, and a few watermelon varieties).

should i just put it all in storage and look for a new place or is this doable?

The front yard, since I cannot put in beds...I think I will put a lot of minature/dwarf fruit trees in my 25x20 foot front yard.

thanks for any thoughts...
