Ana, I might be wrong but looks like a candle stick (cassia) to me

I think it looks like a Royal Poinciana tree to me, but I may be wrong. The leaves are longer than the candle stick.

methinks it is a weed...but i don't know for sure. If it was my yard it would be GONE.

It may be Mimosa tree (Albizia julibrissin) - Category I Florida Invasive Exotic. See link below.

Looks like a cassia to me as well - good larval plant for Sulphur butterflies....

Interesting! It's definitely not a weed! Not a candle stick (cassia) because leaves not that round.
Not a Royal Poinciana or Mimosa tree because leaves are single. the image below compares two.

But I think it's ready to bloom soon!

I love a mystery plant :) It will be interesting to see the flowers.

Well, you got m to finally join so I could post my two cents! It looks a lot like Palo verde. I lived in Arizona for a long time between living in Florida. Anyway, that's my thought...Parkinsonia, there's even one called "floridiana" ( though not from here, just funny). Anyway, I know a lot of people, especially retirees are back and forth from Phx and central Florida, or really for any reason, someone might have liked the tree so much they brought it here...all it would take would be a bird to drop the seed in your yard from that other Florida grower who has(hypothetically) planted it here...if only you could upload the smell...palo verde always had this distinct smell.

Sorry it wasn't something 'good,' Ana. I'm ever hopeful when I see an unknown growing in my garden, but it usually turns out to be a plant I wouldn't want to grow. Why is that??? :)

a few years ago I had something come up in my rose bed. I waited a few months, it was a slow grower, it turned out to be a magnolia tree! Birds must have dropped the seed. Of course I had to move it.
Just this morning I pulled a Brazilian pepper! thank you birds.
