Gaillardia

Trying to decide what to do with a gaillardia in the yard. It's the first one I've had any success with, I finally found a spot where it's happy. It's been growing/blooming since October, now is very woody with some blooms & leaves just at the top. The plant is 4-5 feet tall and 6-7 feet wide. I can't see where any of the seeds have germinated. Do I cut it back (if so, how far?) or just yank it out and start fresh?
