It looks like barleria cristata (Philippine violet) to me. if so, then blue (or white) flowers should begin appearing soon.

Thanks girls, I can't wait for the blooms :-) Will it tolerate full sun here? Since it is attractive to bees, butterflies and hummers I'd like to move it outside the pool cage. Tom

Tom, didn't I send you cuttings of this plant, last fall? It's a beautiful plant and re-seeds readily - you'll love it.

Tom, didn't I send you cuttings of this plant, last fall? No, it wasn't me. I got this plant at Lori's swap only because no one else wanted it and I can't stand the thought of euthanized plants! Potted it up twice and it's clearly been happy, I can't wait for it to bloom :-) Tom

Hi Tom, It takes full sun in my yard. I have it on the western side of my green house. It freezes in the winter but comes back in the spring and I have a few new plants this year from reseeding. Melissa

Mine is shaded by a big Magnolia tree, so it's in shade.

Good to know it can handle both sun and shade. Mine has not started blooming yet, I can't wait! Any pest problems outside? Tom

No pest problems that I have noticed. I can be pretty inattentive though but I think I would have remembered anything major. :-) Melissa
