A Bounty of Fennel

This spring I bought a green fennel plant. It did well in its AM sun location and the swallowtail cats were happy to dine on it (I bought it for them) For awhile now, the plant has looked pretty raggedy. I cut some of the brown stalks back and have been encouraged to see new growth emerging near the base.

A couple of weeks ago I cut the remaining stalks back to green and, in the process, ran my hands over the dried flower heads in hopes that I might get a new plant or two.

Today as I surveyed the fennel I noticed a bounty of wispy green sprouting in the bed. An online check confirms these are young fennel plants.

I've never tried it from seed before. I need a "That Was Easy" button!
