I have a celebrity planted in an earth box. It is beautiful with several blossoms. Been that way for several weeks, but has not produced any fruit. I have it on my lani. Why no fruit? As trying to grow cukes outside in containers. Second season trying with no success. What is the secret to grow cukes or summer squash in Florida?

Probably still too hot at night where you're at. I've lost over 300-400 blooms, only have a dozen tomatoes to show for it. Night temps must be below 75F, and ideally, below 72F to set fruit.

What problems are you having with your cukes and zukes? TLI...I'm zone 10, biggest problem I'm having is the HEAT. Plants are slightly wilted by the time I get home to water them, and we'd better cool down soon or the bugs will get them, but for now they look okay.

Tom , are you happy with the bottom cups to dry buckets? If you are using 5-1-1 Al's mix, hard for me to invision that the plants do not need water 2X's a day.

We have had to very short cool spells and I have 4 in tomatoes from first (very few) and good number of 1 in ones from the 2nd one.

Your plants look great as usual!

Yup, the water hogs (tomatoes) are suffering due to the heat, cukes and zukes on the other hand are very happy.

Try to shake the tomato plants gently when they are not wet. Sometimes this works for me.

Tom

Nice looking set up as always.

Bernie

This one is for you. Halloween salsa that I made yesterday.

Anytime you want to come, just let me know...

I made a big batch of salsa, my own recipe. I do it just by tasting.

Tomatoes, hot peppers, sweet peppers, red limes and herbs from the garden some like cilantro, mint, basil. Chopped red onions, not mine, a little bit of olive oil, balsamic vinegar.

And I add to taste chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper.

I put it in jars and gave it to a lot of friends. They said it was the best tasting salsa ever!

Silvia,

Bernie's headed to MY island for a few weeks (Eleuthera). I say we head over there and experience a little Bahamian cuisine and hospitality ;-)

Tom, great container vegies as usual!! Thanks for posting!

Silvia, that salsa really looks yummy!! I love fresh homemade salsa.

After what seemed like forever...I am finally getting some tomato fruits!! It has been so hot and still is...but at least the night temps are slowly cooling off enough to set some blooms. I only have two plants, but my sweet 100 is loaded with blooms and some fruits are appearing...Yay, finally!

Tom, I am ready to go...I can see Bernie sipping Margaritas or Pina Coladas or maybe just a beer?

By the way, I am growing the squash Green Marrow that you gave, just not in my house, I gave to a Chef one plant of the Green Marrow and one of the Table Dainty. And also other friend got the same combo, they are around my area. And I will keep you posted on their results, because they are growing them together, they can compare.

The Dolma Kabak, I will try again in Spring to see if it does better, you know about the Coosa type squash does not do too well here.

Hi puglvr

I made the salsa mild, so a lot of people can try. Some don't like hot. When I gave them I told them that they can always add more condiments to their own taste, and put beans or corn if they like it.

And I am glad that you are getting tomatoes. Show us some pictures sometimes, you have some of the nicest looking plants! I am sure that your tomatoes are looking good!
