Fwang Tung Carambola (starfruit)

I thought it might be interesting to show what the Fwang Tung fruit looks like. Most carambola fruits ripen to be an orange color. Not this one. It is a larger fruit that ripens to a very pale yellow/off-white color.

My fruits are just beginning to ripen now. So, I get to enjoy them until we get the first freeze (or I run out of fruit!).

What pretty fruit, Christine. Is it a sweet variety or an acid one?

Really nice fruit. Mine didn't make as many fruit as last year for some reason. I have a few starting to ripen now. I dont know what variety mine is but it tastes similar to sweet green grapes.

Mark ~ If you are going to buy only one starfruit tree get Kary, if you can. Second choice is Arkin which I know HD carries. I've seen starfruit trees at the Farmers Market for only $25.

greenman -- Your starfruit tree is young. In time your tree will produce some nice fruit. :)
