Tree with purple berries-what is this?

These trees make me crazy since my dog is always trying to eat the berries. Does anyone know what the tree is so I can look up whether the berries are harmful to dogs? Thanks!

If the purple berries are in round clumps around each leaf node, it is Beautyberry. They are not harmful.

A picture would certainly be helpful - seagrapes also have purple colored fruits & are harmless...

Elderberries? It is kind of tough without a picture.

There are just a gazillion x infinity poisonous toxic things out there. Be proactive, no matter how old your dogs are, teach your dog the "Leave it" command.
