They are kind of a finicky plant. They seem to like a bright shade, moist soil that is fertile. Some we planted in a darker shade died out and in full sun they cooked. The also seem nematode sensitive in our sandy soil. Ours are flowering now, nothing show, small white flowers. They have been in the ground about 2 years and are around a foot tall.

I got both plants about 3 weeks ago. Mine are in pots, they were doing good until I sprayed home made bug spray(dish soap, citrus peel, water). it kinda dried the leaves a little(very sensitive). The color is fading some and I think I need to move them to a brighter location but I want to wait to make sure the bug spray is all gone first. They are such beautiful plants, too bad they are so finicky. Wish me luck!

I love these plants! They look like a flock of butterflies. I'll have to check out Driftwood when I get back from Chicago, Jan.

Hi all! I just purchased one of these and within a week it lost most of its leaves. Despite not being able to find any indication that this plant attracts butterflies, I am fairly certain it had a caterpillar egg on it and the way the leaves were lost seems consistent with caterpillar munchies. Any idea if that could be the case?

I've had two of these at different times in the past couple of years. They are both history. After the first one croaked, I took more care with the second. It croaked too.

They were both healthy, well formed plants. I hadn't even gotten to the point of considering propagation.

I generally have no problem nurturing plants. However, I'm not buying a third - there are too many other desirable plants yet to try.
