Was this (gorgeous) photo taken in October? If so, maybe next year I should plant some in July because my May-planted bulbs lost their blooms too early this year (due to heat, I assume). (Or, is it difference in quality of bulbs... yours from the source, mine from a big box store?)

Caladiums bloom when they reach maturity and the bloom contains seeds that can be started to produce new bulbs. Bulbs you get in box stores are lower grade bulbs and they produce smaller leaves. The high grade bulbs are generally shipped to nurseries etc. the bulbs that are purchased at the festival are generally medium grade or one step below high grade. My whit ones grew to gigantic size. The blossoms can be below the foliage or as shown can be high and showy on their own.
