This is not the time to trim bougainvillea

The yard cleaning jeebies took me over today. Pulling, yanking, cutting back the latest party crashers still arriving from September rains. So I trimmed up a potted bougainvillea so prettily.

Only then did I check online. UofF:

"The best time to prune bougainvillea is in late winter or early spring after it flowers, or at the start of the rainy season. If you wait until late summer or early fall, your plant may produce fewer flowers during the following winter."

Well, no wonder my bougs rarely bloom. I guess when I see a bloom, I expect there will be more to come. But they don't come, and then it is fall and branches are looong.
