They look like eggs to me. :o) Maybe lizard or snakes.

Susie, Are you sure they aren't time-release fertilizer - something like Osmocote? I can't tell from the photo.

I would have to do some searching to make sure, but I think most snake and lizard eggs are elongated rather than spherical, but that doesn't rule them out. Still, the fact that they are clumped together like that is interesting. They could be moisture control beads. I was recently at a house where the owner had little round BB type beads and when soaked, they swelled up to about that size, though they were pink in color.

Did the soil come with the plant or did you make/add the soil? Do any of the other pots around this one have similar objects? Inquiring minds want to know!

Looks more like slug eggs to me - you might want to do an image search on Google to compare.....

This is an image from the 'net, "frugal-gardener", I think...but these slug eggs certainly look like what I've got.

They do kinda look like Osmocote-balls, but I don't use that and this soil is a mix which might include worm compost,
Barbie, that was a good idea, they DO look like my wormies' eggs, and you can't tell by the pic, but these are huge and much rounder compared to red wiggler eggs.

Well, Darn! I was hoping for good stuff for you. I've only seen the worm eggs fresh laid, never after. When they are fresh and slimy it's hard to tell what they will look like. *GAG* But, I've always heard round see through balls.

Now I'll be more cautious of the ones I find in the garden!

I was thinking of your reply today while out working when I was getting several large earthworms in every plant I up-potted.

I was thinking these worms hatched from somewhere and grew in my potting soil, so maybe these are worm eggs. Just not Red Wigglers' eggs.

So I am keeping said eggs and will watch to see what pops out.

Is there any chance you could come to Dawn's Garden Party, since Silvia's Fall Party is cancelled? I could give you a whole bunch of worms!

I don't know yet, so I didn't want to post that I was coming. I just lost my FIL (memorial was this weekend) and we are visiting with MIL very often. She's in the Villages. Maybe I'll go look at the thread and see if it's logistically possible to go from one to the other easily and use that as an excuse. ;-)

Oh- And you know me - I'll be all over watching this post to see what happens with those eggs! I've always found them and assumed they were wormens (my kids word) if they aren't I NEED to know!
