pachysandra in central FL

I live in Orlando. Would pachysandra grow and do well here? I'm looking for an easy ground cover to make a patch @ 8 x 12 or a little larger. for my dog to use as a potty. He's a funny.. ok.. a fussy guy. He has a good size back yard and only goes around the outside edges along the fencing and the house. I just figured out why he doesn't play in the middle of the lawn .. that's where he poops. So to give him a whole yard to chase a ball in I need to give him a specified area for his dropping !

Do you have any other suggestions ?? I need something that isn't poisonous.

Many thanks,
