Sweet Viburnum dying....Help!

kwadew

My Sweet Viburnum have been dying one by one. I have a row of 50 of them. I've had one completely die and two others are half-way there. The affected bushes are not next to each other. The one that completely died was about 100 feet from the next one that is affected. The leaves start turning red. If you look at the trunk near the ground you can see where it is cracked. My soil is very sandy and dry. I haven't watered them at all this summer with all the rain. I don't fertilize much, a hand full of 666 or 888 in the spring and fall. I do put granular insecticide around the truck once a year. The ants are pretty bad here. Had Florida Pest come out and check, and they had no idea. I dug up the one that died, thought I might find some fungus on the roots, but didn't see anything obvious. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Kirk
