That's good to know I might be able to keep it small and bonzai is am interesting idea. One of the main problems is that a lot of the year, I only get an hour or so of sunlight. Even though my yard is quite Bug for an apartment, this has been the biggest challenge to keeping a lot of stuff alive.

If you are getting a Norfolk Island Pine (the most likely variety for a Christmas tree) it's not going to stay small for very long, even in a container. And bonsai is not a word usually associated with a 100' tree.

The simplest solution is to put it out by the curb on a day when trash is NOT being collected with a sign that says "FREE LIVE TREE". It will disappear when you're not looking.

The farm I was looking at sells these varieties :The average potted tree is five to six feet tall. Our potted varieties include Cedar, Leyland Cypress, and Blue Pyramid.
I actually have a tiny norfolk pine that I pulled out of the garbage myself. It hasnt gotten any bigger in the six months I've had it. It also has not died from lack of Sun. I don't have curb access and things left at the dumpster are often thrown away. I could always post on craigslist after the fact but like that. people dont have a lot of space here in St. Pete. I guess I was just hoping to find someone who was maybe actively looking to plant something

Ads for items that are free don't cost anything in my local paper. Maybe that would work for you? I've gotten several nice plants for free from the classifieds.
