Warning and my stupidity

I had a house plant in a pot that I liked the look of and it was really healthy. It was an arrowhead (Syngonium podophyllum). I decided to plant it in my hibiscus bed. Big mistake! It is extremely invasive in South Florida. It started growing up the hibiscus, my house, the fence...I didn't know it would grow like crazy and be such a nuisance. I just spent hours trying to disentangle it from my poor hibiscus and pull it up. Live and learn. I should have left it in it's pot.

I'll bet you haven't seen the last of it. Mine started from a dish garden someone gave me when I was in the hospital in 1984. Several hard freezes and bottles of Roundup later, I still fight it every year. It's the gift that keeps on..and on..and on....

John, lol! I am glad I am not the only one. Yeah, I figure I will have to "attack it with vengeance" again in a couple of weeks.

Hi
Got one up on you for the "stupid" category.lol . Though I didn't plant it I allowed it grow in the temp controlled shadehouse lol. Though I have several other plants even more invasive the mature leaves of syngonium are downright ugly lol I thought I could control it by growing epiphyticly. Strangled the tree in about 6 months lol Too bad they don't keep those beautiful immature leaves?? Another is pothos. WOW does that grow!! though when it goes through the roof full sun does temporarily slow it down. Another is "swedish ivy" not so much in the yard but a nightmare in the shadehouse!! gary

Gary, you are too funny. Again, I am glad I am not the only one lol. Still, we wish we could control nature more, don't we?

um, I have one of those growing in a bucket of water at the moment...think it may just disappear one of these days...never got around to figuring out where to put it...now I know the reason for my procrastination, lol.

Randy, if you keep it in a pot on a porch or patio and clip it occasionally, it will be fine. Just don't let it roam and root everywhere, lol. I may dig up a piece and put it back in a pot. I do like the way it looks.

Hi
They make gorgeous easy care pot plants. A cutting will revert back to the original colors and hold onto them MUCH longer. I find this true of a lot of plants .anything that vines goes into a pot. Then you can bury the pot or not. naturally you have to keep an eye on the wonderings lol as many will root at the nodes but it does prevent creeping underground. Use a good quality pot as many will just chew the pot up lol gary

I have a huge one growing up my oak tree. It pretty much stays on that tree. I have a white-leafed one that comes up everywhere, and spreads like wildfire! I just dig them up, pot them, and give them away.
