Need advice on pot sizes with cattle panel trellis - Tom?

Good morning all! Over the weekend hubby put together a cattle palnel arch for my kobocha squash, spaghetti squash, et. I am going to put pots in the ground centered under the bottom of the arch wich starts about 10" off the ground.

Question is.........what sized pots should I use??

If I use 5 gallon buckets I'll only be able to get two plants on either side. I have some 2.33 gal containers that are about 12 in. diameter by a foot deep. That would allow me to get 3 plants per side but are they big enough for the plant to develop a healthy root system?

Tom - this is very similar to what you've done in the picture I saw of yours. What do you think??
