Hard to tell for sure from the closeups, but it looks like an Oxalis. Very easy to grow and will do well in both shade and sun.

fawnridge, I think you are correct I looked it up. The blooms are light pink.

The bunch that I got from my neighbor, only one piece has a bulb but not the others. Can these be rooted in water? Is it okay to put the one that has a bulb in water before putting in soil?

I would put it directly in soil. May rot in water.

I would put them directly in soil they seem to do best where it dries out . Only objection to them is they get a bit weedy They pop up everywhere . there are green varieties also with several different colored flowers I let the wild ones grow among the purples they have yellow flowers .
but are dormant during summer. but the purples grow through the year gary

The yellow are probably Oxalis stricta or corniculata, definitely weedy. Not in the same category as well-behaved bulb plants.

Oxalis, it will take over your garden!!! especially the green leaf one.

Rene, many Oxalis have green leaves, and are often confused with Trifoliums. Some Oxalis are desirable garden bulbs, some are weedy plants. I'm using O. crassipes as ground cover in most of my ornamental beds, under shrubs and deciduous late entities like Brugmansia. Looks cute, green, tons of flowers when not much else is going on, shades the ground well when most of the annual weeds here sprout. If I want a spot for something else, I just move a clump elsewhere. It also forms a dense enough mat to encircle a tree-bed without a hardscape border, to stop grass from invading if the area is mostly shady and the grass is somewhat struggling anyway. OK if it gets mowed, does great in sun or shade. When offered in trade, most people want some.

Most people cussing at Oxalis have O. stricta, a branching plant with yellow flowers, explosive rocket-shaped seed pods, hard to pull without breaking (in which case it keeps growing.)

O. crassipes:

I have that in a pot in the master bathroom. It makes my day so many times to see it bloom. It blooms freely in the wintertime.

I love it. I have it in purple and green and grow it in pots. It dies off quickly in the ground. It is very pretty and in my opinion, not invasive at all.
