When drought made our grass go dormant, I noticed some Polypremum procumbens, a native, that was still green with tiny white flowers on it. I dug it up & have it in a hanging basket. Seems to bloom in spurts, and need a haircut after. Might not be what you were looking for, but during it's 'good phases,' it's very pretty. I might be letting it get to dry, IDK.

For a somewhat similar appearance, what about Tahitian bridal veil, Gibasis geniculata? If that jumps out of a pot, it pulls up with virtually no effort, assuming you don't go entire seasons without checking for things like that.

I have both plumosus and sprengeri that were originally parts of dish gardens . Both spread by runner as well as seed. i've let the plumosus grow into a chain link fence,mainly because I've been unable to eradicate it or maybe because the "boss "thinks it's pretty?? lol
have no experience with foxtail or true asparagus
Are there other members to the family??

Gary, there seem to be lots of different varieties of asparagus fern. If I remember right they classify true asparagus in a different family now (?).

They farm asparagus ferns here in Volusia county (for the florist industry) and I always like them, but so many of them are on the invasive lists. . . I was just wondering what the non-invasive options were.

I have sprengeri that was here when I bought the house. I hate it and need a couple of free weeks so I can dig it out. Even then, I'll be stuck with some.
But, I love my foxtail ferns - have about 10 and they aren't invasive and look swell most of the time. I grow mine in partial shade so they stay darker than if they were in full sun. Big and bushy and tropical.
