Ruby Supreme guava why so many shapes?

I bought a Ruby Supreme guava last year at the Merritt Island plant sale that came from PIN. 3 gal plant with lots of blooms but no formed fruit yet. This summer I got over 30 fruits from the small tree. The fruit were extremely large 3.5" in diameter and weigh in at 8 oz on the scale. I was blown away by the quality, quantity, taste of fruit, and bug free inside. The tree is a typical Ruby Supreme with a sprawling growth habit.

A friend of mine also has a Ruby Supreme guava tree about 5 yrs old now with a 5" diameter trunk, and about 6 feet high. The tree is extremely productive but the guavas are only 4 oz and about 2" in diameter maximum, oblong in shape, and also bug free inside. Just like my tree, it also has a sprawling growth habit.

I just found another picture of a Ruby Supreme guava that is shaped like a peach here: http://www.papayatreenursery.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=574

I was wondering if anyone knows why are there so many differences in the shape and size of the fruit within the Ruby Supreme hybrids?

end, I attached a PDF that describes the fruit. Seems in can be several different sizes and shapes on the same tree.
Ruby Supreme, is really Ruby X Supreme.
Search for Homestead guava, that's the name of the cultivar.

Thanks Corrie that is a very informative document that you located. It definitely answered my questions as to why there are many shape variations with this hybrid guava.
