Mango infested, Help!

Pretty sure I'll have to toss the plant, but I still like to know what I'm up against and how I can protect my other plants. I have a young mango, no more than a few months old, and when we moved to pinellas, I noticed these specs of what I originally thought to be dried dirt (from heavy rain splashing up in the pot) but later seemed to some mite(?) covering my poor plant. But it seems to favor the top of the leaves rather than the bottom, and causes the plant to look as though It is dried up, leaf by leaf. Getting some of them (assuming it is a mite) onto white paper and observing closely, they don't even look like spider mite (which are usually a red-brown color)... honestly, they look more like tiny, micro sized black fleas... What could they be? And How can I protect my other fruit bearing plants? Any and all help appreciated.
