| I have the following plants in pots that I would like to leave outside to bear the elements this winter instead of trying to cram them all into the greenhouse like I usually do. Mums, red bud tree, sedum-Autumn Joy, Brown Turkey figs and pecan tree. They are all in either 6" or 1 gallon pots. Do you think they will survive? We get alot of frosts and some freezes. The lowest has ben about 18 degrees. |

| Dig holes and sink the pots in the ground. Bring the soil up and around the collars of the pots. Spread mulch of oak leaves or pine needles around the area. Keep the pots watered during the winter. By sinking the pots in the ground, the plant roots stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Now is a good time to put those trees in bigger pots before burying them. Got down to 19 degrees here and my saplings treated this way did very well. |
