Cold Protection
If the weather forecast is for overnight temperatures to drop below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, provide some protection for the aloe. Drive four stakes into the ground around the plant and throw a blanket over the stakes. Ensure none of the blanket is touching the aloe, and then secure the edges of the blanket with bricks or rocks to keep it from blowing away. This will help keep contained the reflective ground heat, making the plant slightly warmer. Remove the blanket in the morning when the temperature rises again.

Deland. I am surprised at how little they are affected by the cold weather

Have no problem in my area either. Do plant them close to the house which probably helps. Have put some in concrete pots as a backup by the front door.
