I have already moved all my seedlings and cuttings up against walls and set up my 'tent poles' so I can cover most of my tropical bed with one or two blankets. Everything else will be left to the elements. Nothing left to do now but cross my fingers that my transplants have had long enough to establish themselves enough to survive this rather early frost.

Fingers Crossed!!

So far no watches or warnings for us...have to keep a close eye to see if they update it tomorrow...

All of my tender plants have been brought inside. I don't like this time of year when the temps roller coaster up and down.

I spent my morning hours today giving the yard one last mow, mowing the leaves as well as the grass. I then padded all my beds with the clippings. The idea, which I got from a book or website, is that the clippings are even now decomposing and generating heat. When I cover the Tropical bed tomorrow night, I should have a combination of solar heat and decomposition heat to help the bed through the night. I don't expect a lot of heat, but maybe just enough to make the difference between alive and dead.

We're suppposed to have 5-6 hours below 30 tomorrow night and Wednesday morning. I spent all afternoon yesterday raking up long leaf pine needles and piling them on my beds.
When I get home tomorrow night I'll have to cover a few borderline iffy plants but everything else will have to fend for themselves...too much to cover.

I covered my strawberries that I grow in window boxes with old cafeteria trays I bought cheap at a yard sale. I anchor each one down with a brick. We got the pump house covered with plastic and we have a light to turn on in there tonight. Running water starting at dark. Two nights of freeze for us and then 70-76 starting on Friday and thru Monday. Chinese Fire Drill.

37F low for me according to the recording thermometer. Which I suppose is a good thing since some of my blankets collapsed last night and left the center of my Tropicals tent exposed.
