Sugar Snap Peas - not blooming

My sugar snaps are growing nice vines up the wire but are not blooming. What am I doing wrong? The Cucumbers growing on the same wire are blooming...

RE: Sugar Snap Peas - not blooming

I've read that extra fertilizer/nutrients in the soil will prevent blooming as the plant will put everything into foliage. If that's the case all this rain we're having should wash it out and convert them. Not sure what else would affect them besides temperature and moisture. Currently temp shouldn't be problem. Maybe they just need more time. Hopefully expert pea grower knows.

Pepperot, thank you. I haven't used fertilizer yet. It is a new raised bed with garden soil (probably had fertilizer in it), compost and peat moss. I guess I will have to be patient.

How old are the plants? They usually take 50-60 days before blooming.

Tom, I think I planted them around October 15...or so. So maybe it just hasn't been long enough. Thanks for the info.

RE: Sugar Snap Peas - not blooming

I've found sugar snaps are pretty tough to grow down here. I think they need a cold snap, but a colder one than we get. I've been able to grow a few, but none so far this year because it's been so hot. My dad says they need the cold to get started.
