Digging up Elephant's Ear?

I'm moving soon and have quite a few very large Elephant's Ear I'd like to bring to the new house. What's the best way to do this? Should I dig them up and pot them(I don't think they'd fit in the moving van, and don't want to pay to bring too many plants the size of a recliner!)
Can I cut them back to the ground and dig up the corm and replant that in the spring? Do I need to do anything to the corm?

Cut them back and just put the bulbs in a paper sack or lcardboard box and move them that way. You can either replant right away as long as you aren't moving anywhere that it is freezing or wait and replant in spring if more convenient.
