Soursop Hurricane Damage -- Save or Replace?

Sandy passed directly over our island in late October and did a number on our orchard. Nature does, of course, have amazing recuperative powers and it seems that a number of saplings that I'd declared to be dead have started to green up with recent winter showers. I'll likely replace the citrus (which are suckering from the roots, below the grafts), but am looking for opinions on the soursop. We decided to buy a soursop as an Irene-replacement tree last year, but I haven't had one in the yard since I was a child. Can it recover from the roots? I'd prefer to save it if I can -- replacement means an uncertain journey on the deck of a mailboat (and exposure to salt spray) from Nassau. There are no legit nurseries on the island that stocks something as 'exotic' as a soursop, so buying locally isn't an option. Thoughts?
