I have my white mussaenda in a huge pot(south side sun) and my pink in the ground(east side sun). I give them no special treatment whatsoever and they thrive. However, they do drop their leaves and go dormant in the winter so if it looks like you new baby has died, well it hasn't and will come back in the spring even though every year you worry it won't.
If you bought a tree form I would stake it. If you bought the plant, just know that the branches can bend like a weeping willow. When it gets huge, you can prune it to keep it tidy.They are beautiful.

I always have wanted to try propagating but never got around to it. Spring would be best, when it comes out of dormancy.

You've likely got a hybrid mussaenda, as M. erythrophylla has blood red enlarged sepals.

Mussaenda 'Queen Sirikit' has the salmony-pink sepals, and there are at least 2 other hybrid mussaenda that are also named after royalty from southeast Asian nations.

Anyone knes where I can purchase this plant? I am in TN.
