Coleus with ornamental grass - before and after

Posted by greenfreak Z7 NY (My Page) on

I'm a big big fan of coleus and I decided to mix in some ornamental grass with them a couple of years ago.

The initial May planting in my kitchen looked pretty sad! I laughed at the size of the container but knew it would grow into it nicely if I kept the coleus trimmed:

I fertilized once a month and left them outside to do their thing, in full sun. Shade-loving plants my butt! The color difference was amazing. These are "sun coleus" varieties. This picture was taken in August, three months later:

For more pics, visit my site! I've got over 700 of them, link is below.

Thanks!

Trish

That is a beautiful picture, Greenfreak. What variety is the coleus?

I'm sorry I haven't been back to answer your question Marguerite! Just in case anyone wants to know, I have three out of the four tags at least:

Miracle Gro - Nursery Select - Velvet Red Coleus (Full Sun)
Emma's Garden - Coleus Collection - Gold King
Rhynchelytrum 'Pink Crystals' - Ruby Grass

The only one that's missing is the dark purple... Can't seem to find that tag.

I now have over 1000 photos on my website with more coming all the time and free wallpaper.

I'm sorry to anyone reading this but the above photos are no longer visible because of iVillage imposing new Terms of Service regarding copyrights of photos.

I refuse to let them benefit from my hard work and hard earned money.

You can click the link above to get to my homepage or the link below to go directly to my photo galleries.

Please email me if you have any questions as I doubt I will be spending much time here in the future.

Thank you,

Trish
