croton leaves are green?!!

Hi everyone,

I have a beautiful croton that is popping out new leaves like crazy.Yeaaa! The only problem is that all of the new growth is green :o( It's sitting in front of some large french doors in plenty of sunlight. I water as soon as the soil feels dry but have cut out the fertilizer during the winter months. I know that I have to be doing something right because it's always putting out new leaves but how do I get them to turn multicolored like the others? Is there a trick?

Mine is doing the same thing!

I thought that maybe once it gets more outdoor sun, in the summer, it would get a lot of the color back.
I'm very curious to see what someone says.

Hey there: It is my understanding that crotan grows best in hot sunny environments and it goes wild in places like Florida. My sister has one in her yard in Raleigh that is doing well. I've never had one that wasn't in a pot.- Sandy

In South Florida where crotons are grown outside they are most colorful in full sun. I've seen them grown in part shade and even shade and they grow fine but they lack color.
