Need Low care Shade foliage mix - ideas

Hi
I live in S.E. PA and my deck is facing west. Our huge deck makes the area below very shady. It gets sun only just before sunset. There is an area in there, a corner like about 12 ft by 3 ft.

I need shade plants like ferns, hosta, and atleast one that can produce flower. Pls suggest a nice mix and mention names and sub-species too. And where to buy cheap?!:)

Also there are foliage'rainbow mix' seeds I see in ebay, can I Just sow them in early spring and let'em grow? will they?

Thanks!--kris

That's a very good size bed. You can plant a Hydrangea 'Annabelle' there and hostas of different heights, Bleedingheart, Pulmonaria, fern, Lamium maculatum. That will brighten up the area.

I got most of my plants from Bluestone Perennials. Their plants are in superb quality. The price is right too. Or wait until early next spring and check with me. I send plants to GW friends all the time for the price of postage. lol.
