| Hi - I just bought an Emerald & Gold Euonymus at Sprawlmart. The salesperson said it did not turn pink or red. It certainly does not have any tinge of pink or red now. In researching I did. Does anyone know if the E&GE turns pink or red in cold....cold in my area is into low to mid teens....weather?
Thanks for any experiences you have with this colorful shrub. |

| Yes, in winter and early spring while the soil is very cold the leaf margins will have a red or pink tinge to it. In warm soil (or pot grown in greenhouses) the leaves are green/white varigated and no red/pink coloration at all. I think it comes out only when the roots are very cold. The entire leaf will not turn red, but the leaf margin will have a pink or red glow to it. This spring has been quite funny for our E&GE because they are green/white one day and next day turn pinkish again as temperature drops. In a few days I expect them to be fully green/white. |
