pittosporum - will they tolerate heavy pruning?

Hi. I am new to this forum. Love Foliage plants and am trying to put in many to form the basis of my landscaping and garden. At this point I have about 30 Yelow Anise, about as many Indian Hawthorns, some Hydrangeas (including varigated), and some Varigated Pittosporums. The Pitts are so velvety looking and seem to just pop up out of the dappled shade and my husband and I like them. I have a 90 foot walk which - at present - is lined with the Hawthornes. They look nice, but some seem to not care for the less than sunny location. I am concerned for their future. To my question: The Pitts are more than happy there but to be useful in that location, they would have to allow some pruning to keep them neat and moundy looking.

Thoughts?
