Help Identify this plant!

First spring in our new house and not sure what the previous owner planted everywhere. They also did not keep the property properly maintained before they sold it, so I'm not sure if this plant was planted on purpose or not.
It just started springing up from under the sides of a rock in our front bed.
Any ideas?

so doing some research I think I found a good method of getting rid of this terrible weed.
There is only a few popping up around the rock in the picture, no where else in the bed.
From what I read, it seems the best bet is to let it grow some more so the canes are thicker and then cut them open and pour straight Roundup right down them with a syringe.
Anyone else got any other tips?
