| My daughter has beautiful red caladiums, first year for her to have caladiums. Question she asked me, had no answer told her I would ask the Garden Web Experts and they would help. Her caladiums have shoots or spears coming up in the middle of the beautiful leaves, look to me like a bloom. Should they be cut off?? Does this bloom take away from the energy of the bulb? Your help would be so appreciated. Thank you Mary |

| I'm not a caladium grower, but I have read that the blooms (which look a bit like calla lily blooms) should be removed to enhance the vigor of the foliage. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in? |

| Oh I think the blooms are cool! Caladiums are aroids and have blooms similar to other aroids like jack-in-the-pulpits, etc.
They can be removed if desired but I left mine on and didn't see any appreciable change in the amount and size of later leaves. |
