Persian Shield flowers

Hi there,

I picked up a Persian Shield (Strobilanthes dyerianus) at an end of season sale yesterday. I've got it in a container and I'm really excited to have it! I've been reading up on its care, and I understand that it flowers in Winter. But mine clearly has lots of long flowers at it's the middle of July. Should I remove the long flowers now? I'm really new to garden plants.

Thanks!
