so i just decided to do a search on one of my plants i've had for two years, and i found out it's a red fittonia. to my disbelief, the plants on the internet are so full of leaves! mine has only 4 long stalks, the leaves are pretty crispy and slightly curled, and compared to those super leafy ones, mine looks miserable. i water it whenever i water my peace lily, and it's sitting in the middle of my room on a bookcase maybe 8 ft away from a south facing window. what am i doing wrong? it's survived for two years, so i'm not killing it, but i'd rather it thrive than just survive. thanks so much :)

| Did you do a search on GW? I just did and found lots of info on this plant. Several posts point out it's a high humidity plant and NO direct south or west sun. Some keep them in terrariums. You should always do a search before you post. |

Growing Fittonia is actually pretty easy once you follow some basic guidelines- Eastern exposure will benefit them greatly as well as keeping the pot they are growing in on a tray of moist pebbles. They also like regular doses of fertilizer- I use a time release fertilizer that is triggered each time I water. Definitely keep them away from heater vents! |
