Sari, Fatsia japonica is the plant I think is called Japanese Aralia...see link to be sure we are discussing same plant. If so, it can easily be propagated by stem cuttings...I usually just take tip cutting from top of plant, about 8-12 inches, remove most leaves or cut leaves in half, stick in sandy soil kept moist. I see you're from TX, so should easily root before cold weather and be fine outdoors in pot yearround. (I'd root it in small pot and repot as it grows next year).

I've seen Fatsia listed as houseplant too but never tried it inside. I'd imagine a cool spot would be best.

As to shade/sun, the foliage is deeper green in color and to me looks best in shade but will take part sun here in GA zone 8. Will grow to 6 feet but I cut top back each year to keep at about 3-4 feet and fresh branches/leaves appearing. Good luck. josh
