this plant is supose to be cold tolerant to zone7 or 10 to0 degrees,has any one sucesfully overwinter this in the ground in zone 8,ive planted 20 containers and recived mixed info help,hightider

'Red Star' Cordyline is hardy to zone 9-
definitely provide winter protection there in your zone.
