Keep them in the basement. Especially caladium do not like it too cold. The optimum storage temperatures are about 60 deg F, but slightly warmer is ok, too. Just keep them dry.

Many other tubers (begonias, dahlias, etc) prefer cooler temperatures, but no so with caladiums.

You could have potted it in the house for a house plant, they look great. Mine do anyway!

Got cats...what they don't eat, they knock over! Otherwise I'd have lotsa plants inside...

I think they are poisonous so be careful with pets. keep them on the basemen in dry peat or saw dust.

They are poisonous... and they also require a dormant period, I never get mine to come out in the winter I assume its because they are sleeping.

In the event any of you return to this topic, I just want to thank you. This is my first year growing these plants (I alternated them with Hosta in a ring around a tree in the center of my backyard). I was sent the bulbs free for ordering over a certain amount from a garden catalogue and basically planted them because they said "shade" and they were free. I'm absolutely in love with them. I've rarely seen flowers as beautiful as their leaves. I was also dreading the loss of them this winter. I'm so glad I can lift the bulbs and store them until spring.

I plan on adding to the collection next year. Thanks again.
