winter lettuces

I did a little winter test with arugala, corn mache, amish deer tongue and mizuna. My house faces north and I planted an assortment of these in the front bed. The only protection they had were from the crab apple leaves that blew into the bed. Our lowest tempurature has been

11 degrees. They are still alive although not that happy. Down to 19 degrees they were fine. I also planted carrots in the same bed. They are living but are barely growing. They will have a good start for spring. I planted everything on October 2. I also planted snow peas and 19 degrees hurt them and 11 degrees killed them. Just thought I'd pass on this info on to all you folks trying to garden in the winter.
