Planting fall potatoes

My grandpa used to plant fall potatoes every year and harvest them in the spring.
Are people still planting them?
I am interested in how to plant them and how to get ahold of some starts.

RE: Planting fall potatoes

He probably used small potatoes from his spring potatoes as seed potatoes for the fall or he stored spring seed potatoes and used them. My grandfather did a similar thing but he dug them late in the season. I remember them drying inside. I haven't done fall potatoes cause I plant too many greens in the fall.
