Are these peas edible or floral? What I know as sweet peas are floral peas. Shelling peas are edible as well as snap peas and snow peas.. There are also peas grown for making dry peas for soups and things.. To answer your question: All peas can be saved and as long as they are not hybrids and or cross polinate with another pea will dry well and are easy to save year to year. They should be dried on the vine for saving, but you can also pull the mother plant once the peas pods begin to dry and hang them indoors to finish drying.. There is a seed savers area here you might want to ask, but also a ton of places on the web to learn more.. DO a Google search " Saving pea seeds"

If you didn't grow any other peas of a different variety, you may be able to save some of these and have them grow "True", but you are likely to get a more vigorous crop, because of some technicalities of genetics, from freshly purchased seed.

I usually pull my sweet peas before the seeds have time to dry. This year, I was very happy with my sweet peas, as they were all pastels and that is what I wanted, so I let them dry on the vine, and store them in envelopes in a jar in the fridge. Just be sure that they are good and dry before you store them, as any moisture in them could cause them to mildew and rot. Also, put them in a paper envelope, as opposed to a plastic bag. The paper will help with absorbing any moisture.
