I have some fallow areas in my garden right now as well. I will be ordering some buckwheat seed next week to plant as a covercrop. It'll be my first time using a covercrop. I am hoping it will help condition the soil and provide organic matter for a fall root-crop bed.

A cheap source for the seed is Bountiful Gardens . They have a lot of other covercrop seeds as well. They call them compost-crops .

Same here. I am planting squash, cucumbers, and maybe green beans. They should all be out of the way in time for fall planting.

I use buckwheat in fallow areas of the garden. It is a great soil enhancer, and grows really quick in the summer heat.

Hello gardeners. I wonder if I could plant the same veggies KendraB225 in Alabama is planting in Texas? I have several empty rows that are begging for greenery. And I just hate that space going to waste.
