plant green beans in September?

We've had great success planting green beans in the spring, and have replanted to get a second harvest. We're thinking of planting a "third" crop. How do you think green beans will do if planted in September? We're in coastal southern california. Are we just "california dreaming"?

I'm in central cali in the foothills, we planted green beans in the 1st of May (late because we moved there on april 20th. Our beans were doing great then started to get to0 hot and they started dying so we pulled them up. But I am going to replant depending on the weather end or middle of sept. I have corn planted in the space now, it so be done by then

If I have time, I am going to be putting in a final planting of green beans this weekend. I am in zone 5 and we usually get our first freeze around the end of October. I figure we have around 60-70 days. If they don't work, I will have some good material to work into the soil. If they do, great.
