Berries in the off-season

dmeaser

I had my first harvest of berries this spring/summer. Boysenberries and blackberries -- they were great.

My question is: what now? I know I'm supposed to trim down the thick canes, but since this is really just year #2, there aren't very many woody thick canes. Should I trim down everything to the ground? Leave 'em up on the fence?

Also, what should I do with the new vines...they're basically just on the ground.

Thank you in advance.
David
