It has been several years ago & I don't remember for sure how long it lasted. I'm thinking it was a month or 2 before it died off. But mine was not all the way inside, it was in an enclosed porch that was cooler than the rest of the house.

Peppers are perennial, so inside they run in cycles rather than go completely dormant. You can take stem cuttings and root them in a glass of water (tomatoes, too).

But you still need a pollenator if you expect to get a crop from the plants.

I have grown peppers (Hungarian Wax) for the first time this year. They have been in containers all the time in a glass porch. They are still loaded with fruit and have just started producing more flower buds.

ga.karen - what do you mean exactly by a pollinator? Do you mean another variety of pepper? Or do you mean an agent such as bees? I am wondering because all my peppers are the same variety and I stopped hand pollinating after asking if it was necessary on the Vegetable Forum and being told it wasn't. They continue to set fruit even though they are indoors (no insects) and I no longer intervene.

I am guessing they mean a replacement for insects. We had to do this by hand on for the aquaponics system that was indoors. We would just give the flowers a little shake, or to be extra careful, would use a small paint-brush to pollinate the flowers! Thanks so much for the info everyone! I am really excited to do this!
